in Copper Nickel with raised decorated rims on both faces with reeded edges,
UNC weighed 5 grams and 24 mm in Diameter

Lion Capitol standing atop “SATYA MEV JAYATE” (Truth Alone Triumphs) on top of
numerical value “50” flanked on both sides with “PAISE” & “BHARAT” in Hindi
on the left and “INDIA” & “PAISE” in English on the right, all in arched
form near the rim.
Back Face : The Head of Indira Gandhi atop the dates of life 1917-1984 with
the legends “INDIRA GANDHI” in Hindi on the left side of the head and “INDIRA
GANDHI” in English on the right side of the head, all in arched form near the rim
